2020 Hyundai Sonata trying to regain the glory of the original design with a bold new look

2020 Hyundai Sonata trying to regain the glory of the original design with a bold new look

Hyundai liked it as it sang its praise for the revolutionary redesign that it gave the sixth-generation sonatas. When attractive Sonata took the risk of design, most industries made a double deal, but Hyundai did not chase. Efforts have been made to boost the mid-sized sedan in the past two years and to make a second revolution, but consumers are striving to buy something with a plastic cladding and slightly higher ground clearance There is nothing.

The redesign of this 2020 model aims at industry to pay attention to Sonata again. We certainly pay attention so let's take a closer look at what Hyundai did here. The first big change is the car silhouette. It is not like a traditional sedan, it has a shape like a sports bag. It is not Audi A7, but the shape feels especially inspired by that car. Hyundai also held a normal trunk with its sports back appearance.

There are many things in advance. The most noteworthy thing is the DRL design that extends to the hood. In order to judge whether this will work or not, I feel that we have to look directly. Hyundai has put into practical use a new technology that debuted at the Grandmaster SUV concept for the first time. The lights are camouflaged as "chromic material" until they are turned on and ensure that there is no strange looking traditional luminaire extending into the hood. This chromic light stops in the middle of the hood, but there is a trim of similar appearance that extends to return around the window (this part does not light up). Hyundai says that this "light construction defines the future Hyundai car design identity", so get used to it. The grill itself is trying the second time to emphasize strong light accents like these lights and silver bands like beef running from one side of the bumper to the other side.

When we go down the side of the new Sonata, it is worth mentioning that the car grows in most dimensions. There is a 1.4 inch stretch on the wheel base, the total length is 1.7-inch increase, 1 inch wider than the previous model. In cooler-sized news, Sonata is reduced in height by 1.2 inches. One strong belt line moves across the top of the door and becomes thicker as it becomes an impressive taillight design. The boomerang shaped tail light extends from the angle Hyundai gives us in the picture, into the trunk with the smallest hint of the shape of the duck tail spoiler. The LED strip splits the trunk itself. This design is peculiar enough, and it seems that modern day it has corrected the boomerang shaped tail light to the correct amount so as not to draw accusations of imitators from the back of Honda Civic.

The interior has been completely rebuilt to be as modern and sophisticated as possible. We are particularly attracted to the strange 4-spoke handle design. Hyundai is on track to eliminate traditional gear levers - Sonata also got a push button gear selector. The size of all vents is small, but it fits perfectly for the interior. This design looks good on the only picture the present age is giving us now, but we will shake down it completely if we see it directly.

Speaking of official debut, Hyundai will unveil all the details that will come to the New York Auto Show in April this year. Currently I do not know anything other than styling, but I expect the same power train options as those currently proposed - a powerful turbocharger 4 banger are being upgraded, naturally aspirated four-cylinder is standard.
